After having lived in Virginia Beach for almost the last decade I noticed things in Maine that aren't in the Beach . . . hills. I've been surviving the hills but have tried to be smart about not trying to run up every single one of them. I figure if I still feel good, I can pick it up . . . in Delaware. My legs are feeling pretty much like they should after running 30+ miles everyday for a week. A bit tattered with some blisters but surprisingly well. I've met some great folks along the way and started a license plate collection. I do have one blister on my left foot that I need to keep an eye on. Its on the ball of my foot and I need to make sure it doesn't get infected. This also might be the first time my lower lip has gotten sun burned. It was a bit swollen for a few days and now is healing up but a little on the chapped side. I've been going through about 220 ounces of fluid during each run, it's amazing how good a big swallow of warm water can taste after running for 5 or 6 hours. All in all feel pretty good for just having run 225 miles in 7 days. Day 8 has me going through Boston and by the end of Day 9, I should have hit 4 states (Maine, NH, Mass. & RI) and 3 Ronald McDonald Houses (Bangor, Portland & Providence). |
